“It’s hard when you’ve been out of the workplace for a long period of time – you lose touch with what to wear, how to present yourself – how to SHINE at that all-important interview” says Robina Lamche-Brennan, Partnerships Manager at Smartworks. “The service we offer gives the power back to the client, so that she can approach the business of getting the job she wants with confidence”.
As well as focussed coaching sessions, an important element of the service is a two-hour dressing consultation with a highly skilled ‘personal shopper’ who will select an interview outfit for each client from a vast stock of beautiful garments, donated by quality fashion brands such as Hobbs, Whistles and Evans. But finding smart suiting in larger sizes is always a challenge.
Alexandra were delighted to step in and donated a selection of suiting from our Icona, Assured and Easycare suiting ranges, in sizes 16 to 28 to the charity. “We are so pleased to have received items from Alexandra and they have been very well received” says Robina, “We’ve had some lovely feedback from our clients”.
Janibo is typical of the type of women that are helped by the Smartworks service. A fully trained nurse, Janibo had been out of work for over three years. After coming to Smartworks, she was successful in her interview and began a new job as a registered nurse at University College Hospital, North London. “Smartworks made a tremendous difference to my life in the two short hours I was there”.
Pleasingly for Alexandra, UCLH nurses have worn Alexandra workwear for many years, so Janibo continues to wear an Alexandra garment to work each day.
